UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage Update: You Can Still Choose HME
If you received a letter about changes to your durable medical equipment (DME), you’re not alone.
Many people with UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans were notified of a change taking effect in April 2026. The letter indicated that members would need to obtain their DME through providers participating in Synapse Health.
We know this caused confusion—and for some, concern about whether they could continue working with a provider they trust.
Here’s what you need to know:
If you’re currently a patient with HME Home Medical, you can continue to receive your equipment and services from us.
HME Home Medical has been assured by UHC that we are not required to contract with Synapse Health to continue serving our patients. That means no disruption to your care, no need to switch providers, and no changes to how you work with our team.
What this means for you:
- You can continue working with HME Home Medical
- Your care and service will remain the same
- Our team is here to answer any questions you may have
We’re here to help.
If you received this letter and aren’t sure what it means for your situation, we’re happy to talk it through with you. Our goal is to make this as simple and stress-free as possible.
Call us or stop into one of our locations in Green Bay or Manitowoc to speak with a member of our team.
