Ramps & Accessible Stairs
Customized Entry Access for Safer, Easier Living at Home
Getting in and out of your home shouldn’t be a daily challenge. At HME Home Medical, we provide accessible wheelchair ramps and stair solutions that restore safety, comfort, and independence—without requiring major renovations or relocations.
Whether you need a short-term ramp for recovery or a permanent solution for long-term mobility, we offer high-quality, locally installed options. Our team proudly serves homes across Green Bay, Manitowoc, and Northeast Wisconsin, bringing trusted EZ-Access ramp systems and custom stair modifications directly to you.
Why Add a Ramp or Accessible Stair Option?
Entrances can become a serious barrier—especially when mobility changes. Steps that once felt easy may now feel risky or even impossible. That’s why we offer a range of solutions to meet different needs and home designs.
Benefits of ramps and modified stairs include:
Safer access for walkers, wheelchairs, scooters, and caregivers
Slip-resistant surfaces and handrails for added support
Easy navigation without needing full strength, balance, or coordination
Peace of mind for patients, families, and care teams
Temporary or permanent options depending on your needs
We help patients age in place, recover at home, or accommodate temporary visitors with fast, professional solutions—and we’ll help you choose the right one.
Ramp Options from EZ-Access
We exclusively use EZ-Access® ramps, a trusted brand known for durability, stability, and flexible design. All ramps are ADA-compliant, modular, and designed to work with a variety of surfaces and setups.
Available Ramp Styles:
Modular Aluminum Ramps: Ideal for long-term use, these weather-resistant ramps can be customized for any home entry or elevation.
Portable Ramps: Great for short-term or travel use. Lightweight and foldable, these ramps are perfect for temporary visitors or therapy recovery.
Threshold Ramps: A low-profile option to ease transitions between flooring levels or doorway lips.
Our team handles site assessments, delivery, and installation, ensuring every ramp is properly secured and meets your home’s safety needs.
Safer Steps: Modular & Custom Stair Solutions
Not all homes or situations are suited for ramps—or sometimes, a ramp isn’t the right fit. That’s why HME also provides accessible stair modifications designed for people who use walkers or have limited range of motion.
Two Main Stair Solutions:
Modular Stair Systems: These attach to an existing step (such as a patio or front stoop) and include sturdy handrails, anti-slip treads, and a safer step depth. Fast to install and easy to remove, they provide immediate safety without remodeling.
Custom-Built Accessible Stairs: Our team can build deeper, lower-rise steps that make it easier to navigate with limited strength or mobility. These stairs reduce the risk of tripping and are especially helpful for people using walkers or recovering from surgery.
We’ll assess your current entry and offer the best solution based on your needs, budget, and long-term goals.

FAQs About Ramps & Stairs
Are EZ-Access ramps permanent?
No. While they’re durable enough for long-term use, they’re fully modular and can be removed if your needs change.
Do I need a permit to install a ramp?
Not always—but if one is required (as is common in Green Bay), we have a licensed contractor on staff who can pull permits. Our team will take care of the process and ensure all work complies with local codes.
Can ramps be installed in winter?
Yes. Our team is experienced with Wisconsin winters and can install ramps year-round, with appropriate safety considerations.
Will insurance pay for a ramp or stairs?
Typically, insurance and Medicare do not cover ramps or stair modifications, but we’ll help explore any available funding that may be available to you.
Can I rent a ramp?
Yes! We offer ramp rentals for short-term needs such as injury recovery, hospice care, or visiting family members. These can easily be picked up from either of our locations with some advance notice.
What’s the benefit of modified stairs over a ramp?
Ramps require more space and slope; deep, shallow stairs can sometimes be safer and more practical—especially for users of walkers or when a ramp isn’t feasible due to layout or aesthetics.
